A great find, shared to us by Maryan Zyderveld. 📖 Illustration from the book “Les Races Chevalines” by de Simonoff & de Moerder (1894, page 89).
In the book, it is mentioned that Anna Ivanovna, Empress of Russia, founded 10 crown stud farms in 1739 that housed 46 Persian horses and 21 Turkish horses that both historically are likely to have been high Turkoman blood, if not full-Turkoman. The breeding at this studs were influential in the development of other horse breeds from 18th century Russia and beyond.
