We are so happy to share the successful purebred Akhal-Teke breeding via embryo transfer of accomplished stallion Adamek (Gindarkh 13 x Agniya), bred by Phil Case, and our Kazakh-imported mare Badam-Dacor (Miras x Balsheker-Dacor), bred by Dacor Akhal-Teke Stud Farm! Carried by a clever and kind-hearted purebred Akhal-Teke surrogate mare, Gurlesmek (Gerald x Merdjen), bred by Emery Rhodes. 🎉🧬💗
Those in the industry, particularly in rare breeds, know this is no small feat and it takes a team. We are incredibly thankful for the pioneering reproductive team at the Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Laboratory for making this possible as a way to carry on the genetic legacy this pairing represents. We thank Cascade Gold Akhal-Tekes for help in coordinating a suitable purebred recipient in alignment with rules of the closed studbook. We are also deeply grateful to mentor Kristi Plutt for her continued, thoughtful support of our growing herd. And have thanks for so many more.
This breeding brings together generations of notable equine athletes while uniting old and new blood from Kazakhstan and expanding genetic diversity for North America. Both parents have social, steady temperaments, fluid gaits, and distinct champion bloodlines with types we expect will compliment each other to produce a bold-minded and balanced sport prospect.
Adamek is a splendid, multi-talented bay stallion who has been an outstanding ambassador for the Akhal-Teke breed. He has competed successfully at 4th level and FEI Prix St George dressage and training level 3 eventing where he even earned a blue ribbon in training level at the USEA’s American Eventing Championship. In 2022, he won the Akhal-Teke Adequan/USDF All Breeds Final Award to become the top dressage Akhal-Teke in the USA and was honored as the newest Akhal-Teke Breyer Horse portrait model–attending BreyerFest 2022 as a popular guest. Then in 2023 he won the titles of Virginia state open third level champion and fourth level reserve champion.
Adamek is of the Gundogar and Mah lines with Russian and Kazakh breeding. His sire Gindarkh 13 was elite-graded and a fine example of the Akhal-Teke “golden cross”, between the Gelishikli and Arab lines, who toured with the Mongolian State Circus and the Ringling Brothers Circus. Adamek is grandson of accomplished racehorse stallion Gaukhar 4 and great grandson of Russian Olympic Gold dressage stallion Absent through daughter Takappara 2. He is also a grandson of Amelit 12, who represented an exemplary marriage of two strong families of racing and dressage from Adat and Lada, and a great grandson of 1986 Champion of the Breed Garem 11. Within the last 4 generations, Adamek also carries greats including 669 Gundogar, 26 Arab, Yulduz, Ararat 1, Gindukush, and Angar.
Badam-Dacor is an open-hearted, forward mare with a powerfully lean build who was imported to North America from Kazakhstan last fall. Tragically it was discovered she has an old injury from a physical accident that prevents her from carrying a pregnancy, and so our veterinary team recommended embryo transfer as the only way to pass on her genetics. Badam is daughter of the 2009 Reserve Champion of Kazakhstan stallion, Miras, and granddaughter of 1999 Junior World Champion, 2000 World Champion, and Russian Prize of Turkmenistan race winner stallion Salyr. She is also granddaughter of 2011 Champion of Kazakhstan stallion Karabek from the highly commended producer Karar. Badam is of the Posman and Pel family lines and is linebred with multi-champion producer Gaigysyz. In the last 4-generations she also carries noteworthy names such as Kerzi, Arktika 1, Orlan, Melesur, Pampa, 1597 Murgab, Karaman, Sere, Pelen, and 971 Halif.
