Kerkav, lovingly nicknamed “Captain Kerk”, is a purebred Akhal-Teke stallion. He is very correct, with a beautiful shoulder, refined features, and forward moving with a very smooth and balanced gait. This elegant stud surprises everyone with his inquisitive and gentle nature, as well as his great personability and level temperament. Kerk is always very willing–a dream to to train–, and demonstrates well the intelligence and versatility of the breed. He has become quite the ambassador at the barn, loved by kids and adults alike.

Kerkav is by Akhal-Teke stallion Gallo (Fakir x Gelekul) from the Skak Line and out of MV Fergazel (Gindarkh 13 x Fergan), who is a great granddaughter of Olympic Gold Medalist dressage stallion Absent through his best daughter Takappara 2, and daughter of Gindarkh 13 who held the highest grading level of Elite (given by the International Association of Horse Breeding in Russia). His paternal great grandsire Kortik was raced in Russia with a first, four 2nds, and three 3rd finishes over 14 starts; he was also champion in movement at the Tbilisi exhibition in 1988. Maternal grandsire Gaukhar 4 was also a very successful racehorse. Kerkav carries linebreeding from successful producing mare, Fargona, who was dam to two-time highest elite graded stallion and 2000 XP ride finisher Astrachan. Kerkav also carries Dornazarbek, Elite Grade sire to 1997 Russian eventing champion Mansur and other Eventing: 1-CCI3* offspring, and is a nice representative of the Skak line with good bone and fluid gaits. He is sure to pass on good athletic ability and versatility, elegance, and a great mind to any breeding program.
