MV Mele Chus, lovingly called Melo, was sired by Akhal-Teke stallion Merdan and out of MV Manlayli–bred at Magic Valley Akhal-Tekes here in Colorado. He is now owned and cherished by Kyla Kozile (@thewildwestspirit) and shows his otherworldliness in this production. Kyla captured this saying he channeled his “main character” energy during the shoot. It is a great joy to see Manlayli’s legacy continue through her beautiful son and that he is so loved.
We are beyond THRILLED to see an Akhal-Teke casted in this sort of creative production with a talented artist like Jessica Baio. Esteemed thanks to Jessica, Kyla, and the production team for bringing this vision to life with such a special Akhal-Teke. We hope this will spark the creation of more Akhal-Teke film magic! Horses are cast all the time in film, so why not use handsome Tekes like Melo that can lend an extra ethereal element.
The Akhal-Teke is such a sacred, ancient breed. They carry millenia of wisdom and are truly heavenly horses. When an Akhal-Teke looks at you, they *see* you, and when an Akhal-Teke gives you their trust you can feel the strength of their loyalty. A perfect breed to pick for a song titled “Sacred”.
